Paulo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed identifies the disjunct between the transmission of information and the development of knowledge in educational practice. Freire proposes that this disjunct results in the reinforcement of socio-economic divisions and the suppression of opportunities for oppressed populations To be quite honest, I really had a hard time getting into the Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire. Maybe it was my mood, maybe my brain was just full from all of my other projects but it was initially a tough read. I felt a bit oppressed myself as I slogged through chapter 1 but then, I got to chapter 2 and Friere's earlier thoughts started to come into focus  · I leave Pedagogy of the Oppressed with more words than before, with words that can promote dialogue and thus create communion. With words that continue the cycle of reflection and action in a way to deepen our vocations, individually and collectively. With words that can work toward a world “in which it will be easier to love.”Estimated Reading Time: 6 mins
